Slice of Life #29 – WRITER’S BLOCK

Standard

When will something come to me?

Random thought,

Interesting tidbit of the day,

Thrilling surprise or

Edgy comeback I wished I’d made?

Reluctantly I realize my ideas have run dry.

Slivers of slices I’d been squirreling away have slipped,

Beyond my grasp, banished to the untappable

Lobes of my brain,

Out of reach, forgotten,

Can’t even capture a morsel of an idea to

Kick around.

  1. Slivers of slices I’d been squirreling away
    have slipped,
my feet tripped on an idea,
which grew its own legs and ran, magic,
so that even when I closed my eyes last night,
to dream of what to make,
I only caught glimpses of the poem
    I meant to write
by taking words you already wrote,
making me merely a thief in the dark,
    lifting lines.

–Kevin, lifting lines to make poems as comments

  2. I love that ‘untappable lobes of my brain’. Sometimes we just can’t reach in there! You may not have found a topic, but the poem says a lot, & it’s the last of the slicing.
