I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free!
I sing because I love being a part of something bigger than myself, something that may not be as beautiful on its own but, by joining with others, transforms into something more amazing than any singular member.
I am part of a community choir with a vivacious, demanding, genteel and gracious director who is one of the most brilliant people I know. How she waves her conductor’s stick and lifts each and every one of us little singers and orchestra members into the ethereal world of luscious sounds and gorgeous strains of classical and contemporary world music is beyond me.
Yet she does it time and time again. WE do it time and time again.
I sing because I’m happy. I’m happy because I sing.
